Built around the bowl
Ann's Congee is a Thornhill kitchen with one idea at its centre: the humble, comforting bowl of congee — and the Chinese classics that belong beside it.
The bowl that gives us our name
Our name, Fù Guì Zhōu, means "prosperity congee." Congee is one of the oldest comfort foods in Chinese cooking: rice cooked down slowly with plenty of water until it turns soft, warm, and savoury. It's the bowl you reach for on a cold night, when you're under the weather, or when you just want to feel looked after.
Cooked the way it should be
Good congee can't be rushed — it takes time to reach that silky texture. From there, each bowl is finished with savoury toppings and served hot.
More than porridge
The menu reaches well past congee — soups, steamed and fried rice, soup noodles and chow mein, and larger gourmet dishes to share. It's a full Chinese kitchen, with congee at its heart.
